Hello, my name is Vetr Andreas.

I have to admit that I always find the “About Me” page on websites like this amusing because they are often written in the third person…even though they are typically written by the owner of the page.

So, after Andreas Vetr made several attempts to sound smarter than he really is by writing about himself in the third person, he quickly abandoned this approach and decided to write this page as if to a friend.

And in many ways this is so.

“Is this guy worth my time and attention?”

For many readers, my answer is: NO.

I was born in 1966, my wife Nuray and I live in Austria and Turkey and therefore commute between at least two countries,

we have a child and

a dog named Pablo.

I can't help you if you

…assume that I, or one of our consultants, can fully understand and resolve your organization’s internal issues and dynamics without sufficient insight and collaboration from your organization.

Reason: Without open and cooperative collaboration from your organization, we cannot understand your company’s specific needs and challenges and develop suitable solutions. We need a partner-like collaboration, on eye level, to develop effective strategies and implement them successfully.

If you don't actively participate in the process, you won't like my ideas, suggestions, and implementation.

…then you may not find the best candidates, will not identify the best strategic measures for business transformation, and can not understand the steps necessary to invest in employees to make the process you have started a success.

Reason: Successful recruitment, company transformation or employee potential development requires close cooperation between the consultant (me) and your organization. This is the only way to ensure that the right candidates are identified and selected, that the transformation meets the requirements of the corporate culture, that the right measures are introduced, implemented and tested and that employee development can be promoted, implemented and monitored.

If you're looking for the "easy way",
then I do not want to help.

If someone asks me:

“What’s the easiest way,” then here is what I actually hear: “I don’t want to deal with this and pass it off to you.” or “I am not interested in this topic”.

And that means in other words “I don’t want to work”.

You know that neither human resources nor business consulting nor developing the potential of employees and managers is easy.

It’s not easy to constantly drive a company forward.

It’s HARD WORK.

Yes, if it works, it can be exactly as you imagined: success, advancement, career, promotion, praise and recognition, and even better than you imagined.

I think now is the time when I should probably introduce my entire “self-glorifying biography”. So here we go:

I began my career in a very prestigious haute couture house on Vienna’s Kärtnerstrasse, in the Palais Esterhazy with Prof. Hofrath Willhelm Fred Adlmüller.

The exquisite clientele consisted of queens and kings, presidents and statesmen, castle and film actresses, stars from all over the world, and successful entrepreneurs who were dressed and pampered by us.

There I learned two important things that will help me to help you today:

  1. dealing with high-ranking, important & famous people
  2. the Sales at high levels. Very subtle, reserved, and unobtrusive. Not at all like I do today.

When Adlmüller died in 1989, an era of haute couture, in this form, was over for Austria.

I started my first business – self-employment in display design. The business went very well from the start, because wherever I went, people knew that I came from Adlmüller, or I did let them know, which was an entrance ticket to many good shops and so my business quickly flourished and I was able to take on my first employees.

I wanted to go abroad and went to Turkey through the Amway business, which I had been running part-time for some time, to build up the business there too. Success didn’t last long here either. Although there was only a telephone at the post office, I called everyone who could speak German in Turkey, and they were mostly very successful people with good education and open hearts for Austrians like me.

In the MLM business, as a young man, I built my first larger team with leaders. From zero to 400 voluntary and success-dependent enthusiasts, in just 6 months. That was a huge success for me. That’s when I learned how you can get people to do something voluntarily and through motivation.

I had great role models and was able to talk to them directly. Since Turkey was an up-coming country, there were many international “highly successful entrepreneurs and business people” there and I took the opportunity to get to know them and learn from them.

Ohh, that’s going to be a long – if I carry on like this. So quickly and in short form.

At the age of 33, I received an offer to become managing director of the Turkish general importer of Sharp Electronics in Turkey, which I proudly, not humbly, accepted. I was allowed to develop and implement a strategy to transform the company with a subsequent very successful sale. This is how I became a hands-on implementation expert.

Now, I wanted to go back to Austria, but I still had a few projects in Turkey – always changing processes, looking for employees, building them up, replacing them, training them... 

It became clear to me that the employees and especially the leaders of a company make the difference that makes a difference.  

Every change in a company is also about employees – about people. These people implement desired changes and that’s why you need a lot of patience, an open mind, real interest, and much more, to make the transformations, the new things, and the strategies successful. 

So, while I was carrying out a few projects for various organizations, I kept looking around for a suitable challenge in Austria and Germany, including through ISG Personalmanagement consulting.  

I was always recruiting people in all of my projects and so it happened that, after a conversation with Guido Leissinger, the founder of ISG, I went into the business of recruitment myself, since ISG had no direct representation in Turkey at the time. I built a small organization of very experienced executive search consultants and so the business grew. Today we have 25 consultants in Turkey spanning from Istanbul, Izmir, Ankara, to Adana, Antalya, Bursa, Kocaeli, and Corlu… ISG, HQ in Austria, has 800 employees and is active in 40 countries. 

This gives me the freedom to work worldwide, do intercultural business, and help those who want to look for or develop personnel, build or rebuild companies, and need someone who knows the local customs and   has built up a valuable network over the years.    

16 fashion shows, one in the Hofburg, for the fashion czar’s 75th anniversary, and one for his 80th, in Schönbrunn Palace. 8 years! These 8 years have shaped and changed my life forever.

Schindler Elevators saw this and I was brought in there to take part in a transformation process, which we carried out very successfully in collaboration and to the satisfaction of the Swiss owners.

This resulted for me in an MBO (Management Buy Out) of the Schindler factory, which I was allowed to continue running under the name Türkeli. Türkeli has been a well-known brand in Turkey for several generations.

After quadrupling the volume of production and very successful Kaizen activities, which reduced the production times for rail production by a quarter, I brought a partner into the company and then sold the entire company, which I would not do today. He still runs it today.
